Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco – Residents and visitors in Marina Vallarta will gather for the Marina Vallarta Patron Saint Festival, held from August 18 to 22. Organized by the María Reina de la Paz Quasi-Parish, this annual celebration brings the community together in faith and fellowship. Father Fernando Enrique Rodríguez, head of the quasi-parish, has invited all Catholics in the region to join. The events include processions, special blessings, and cultural gatherings.
The María Reina de la Paz Quasi-Parish traces its roots to local residents seeking a spiritual home in this growing resort area. Over time, the church at 270 Albatros Street has evolved into a center for religious ceremonies and community gatherings. Father Fernando’s leadership has fostered a welcoming atmosphere for both residents and visitors, making the parish a focal point during annual celebrations.
Mary Queen of Peace, known in Spanish as María Reina de la Paz, serves as the festival’s patron saint. Devotees invoke her intercession to bring calm to turbulent seas and to guard against storms. This spiritual tradition underscores the community’s deep connection to the ocean and its rhythms.
Father Fernando emphasized that the festival invites families, youth groups, and community organizations to join each event and strengthen bonds through shared faith. Attendance is free and open to all ages.

Marina Vallarta Patron Saint Festival
The festivities launch on Monday, August 18, at 6:30 p.m. Participants will gather at the María Reina de la Paz church at 270 Albatros Street. The procession moves toward Boca Negra Beach. Participants will carry statues and banners. They will take part in the Blessing of the Sea Against the Storm, a ritual that seeks protection from hurricanes and fair weather. “Let us remember that we live in a port and need God’s blessing,” Father Fernando said. The ceremony reflects the community’s close ties to the sea and its reliance on divine guidance.
Each day at 6 p.m., the parish will hold the rosary with the Blessed Sacrament exposed, followed by confessions. Daily Mass begins at 7 p.m. Special blessings will take place on Tuesday the 19th and Wednesday the 20th. Parishioners can bring religious articles for blessing. On Thursday the 21st, the blessing of pets will honor the faithful companions that share the community’s life.
Father Fernando said, “One day we want to have the participation of all the Catholics who live in the condominiums, another day with the residents of Marina Vallarta, and then with the participation of the hotels, businesses, and people who visit our parish from all over the city and the region, because we have a beautiful, pleasant, and peaceful church.” He added, “People come from Banderas Bay and all of Puerto Vallarta, as well as tourists who come on vacation, Canadian and North American residents, who are generally part of the community.”
Evening Serenade and Closing Celebrations
On Thursday evening at 8 p.m., the parish will host a serenade of sacred hymns following the 7 p.m. Mass. The final day, Friday the 22nd, marks the festival’s culmination. At noon, priests from across the city will join in a concelebrated Mass. That evening, the community will gather at 7 p.m. for a Thanksgiving Mass, followed by a cultural event that features a mariachi band and a communal picnic.
