Marriott Vallarta targets May 2027 all-inclusive switch

Marriott Vallarta targets May 2027 all-inclusive switch

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, October 29, 2026 – Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa is targeting May 1, 2027, to switch to all-inclusive operations, according to its general manager.

Alejandro Andrade Domínguez, who manages the 433-room Marriott and nearby Westin Playa Vallarta, outlined the target while describing plans to connect dining and entertainment at both properties.

“What we eventually want to do with the two hotels is a complex with two brands,” he said in remarks translated from Spanish.

For Marina Vallarta, the practical question is how that arrangement could change where visitors choose to eat and spend their evenings.

Andrade envisages a continuous trolley-style shuttle so guests could visit the other hotel’s restaurants and entertainment. Someone staying at the Marriott could head to the Westin for a show, while a Westin guest could make the reverse trip for dinner or entertainment.

Marriott has already published an all-inclusive page for the property under the name Marriott Playa Vallarta, an All-Inclusive Resort. It describes meals and drinks across 12 restaurants and bars, along with daily activities and live entertainment, as part of the stay.

The venues listed include the Japanese restaurant Mikado and Champions Sports Bar. The company also describes separate pool areas for adults and families.

The commercial logic is straightforward: connecting two hotels would give guests more dining and evening options within the resort experience. Instead of choosing a different accommodation package to access another property, visitors could potentially move between the two during the same stay.

The conversion would follow this month’s reopening after renovation work. On its existing resort website, Marriott listed a closure from July 6 through October 18, 2026, with reservations available again from October 19.

That places the reopening and the planned all-inclusive conversion at separate points in the hotel’s redevelopment. The beachfront property on Paseo La Marina Norte has resumed receiving guests; May 2027 is the target for changing its operating model.

The Westin has already made that transition. Its all-inclusive opening, covered by Vallarta Daily in May, established the first Westin resort of that kind in Mexico.

In its opening announcement, Marriott described 281 rooms and suites at the Westin following a renovation of accommodations, dining venues and wellness facilities. Together, the two properties have 714 existing rooms and suites.

For independent restaurants around Marina Vallarta, a broader selection of prepaid hotel meals could create additional competition for visitors’ dining budgets. That is a potential consequence of the model; the announced plans provide no estimate of how spending at nearby businesses would change.

The everyday decision is easy to recognize: guests weighing dinner out would be comparing a separate restaurant bill with a meal already covered by their hotel package. Adding another resort’s venues could widen that choice within the package.

Andrade did not specify when shared access would start or which bookings would qualify. Those terms will determine whether a Marriott reservation also includes an evening at the Westin.
