Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, August 5, 2026 – The Marina Vallarta Residents Association has moved up its road maintenance schedule, carrying out micro-paving work in several areas of the subdivision as small potholes and surface damage become more noticeable.
The association said in a report published by the Marina Vallarta community publication that the work is being done earlier than usual because crews have found numerous small potholes across the development.
Road maintenance is typically scheduled during drier conditions. However, Alonso González Ruiz, manager of the Residents Association, said crews are taking advantage of sunny periods between rain events to keep the streets in better condition.
The work is focused mainly on sections of stone paving set in concrete, including the narrow strips between individual pavers. Crews are also repairing smaller potholes in the adoquín surfaces used throughout parts of Marina Vallarta.
The current project is maintenance rather than a full resurfacing program. The association has not published a complete list of streets involved or announced a final completion date, meaning drivers may encounter isolated work areas as crews move between sections of the subdivision.
The repairs also come as Marina Vallarta continues to deal with the effects of aging underground infrastructure and increased heavy-vehicle traffic. The association and SEAPAL Vallarta have been evaluating a broader replacement of the subdivision’s sewer network, which is more than 35 years old.
That assessment followed damage in several areas where construction trucks and other heavy vehicles have placed additional pressure on the paving and underground pipes. The association has said the long-term goal is to avoid repeated collapses and extend the life of the drainage system.
Recent utility work has also required road repairs. In July, SEAPAL began work on a water line replacement along Albatros Street, with a partial lane closure between Gaviotas and Pelícanos. In April, the association replaced the paving along Paseo de la Marina after a sewer repair damaged part of the roadway.

The Residents Association is asking motorists to drive carefully near active work areas. With the rainy season continuing, additional repairs may be needed if water infiltration or heavy traffic causes existing surface damage to expand.
