With the aim of promoting skateboarding, mainly among children and young people, and encouraging them to represent the country in events such as the Olympic Games, on December 8, 9 and 10, the National DIY Skateboarding Festival will be held in Puerto Vallarta.
At a press conference, the free event for participants and attendees was announced, which will be held on the track of the Agustín Flores Contreras sports unit, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
José Amador Hernández Madrigal, director of the Municipal Sports Council, highlighted the work of those who promote this sport; He also recognized the achievements of Mauricio Ruiz, who has won gold medals in national competitions.
He said that the government of Puerto Vallarta works to support all sports disciplines, including skateboarding.
Meanwhile, Rebeca Scotti, who encourages children and young people to practice skateboarding, said that her dream is for this city to leave the competitors that will represent the country in international competitions, such as the Olympic Games.
She invited those who want to learn this sport to attend the skate court of the Agustín Flores Contreras sports unit on Saturdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., classes are free.
Under the motto “Building ramps, not walls”, they have been established as a non-profit foundation and contribute to the construction of unique tracks in various parts of the country.
For the national festival, participants from Sonora, Guadalajara, Aguascalientes, Mexico City, State of Mexico, Yucatan, Baja California and of course from Puerto Vallarta and Jalisco will be in attendance.
At the festival, they will deliver a 50 thousand pesos bag among the winners of the men’s, women’s and children’s categories. The participants will score points that will serve for the world ranking, since there will be judges who will evaluate the competitors that stand out in the styles, difficulties, speed and time in the execution.
