Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco— Passengers traveling through Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport are experiencing longer transfer times as road infrastructure projects advance near the Las Juntas intersection. Airport authorities have issued warnings that construction in the north of the city is causing significant traffic congestion for individuals arriving or departing from the air terminal.
In an announcement shared via its social media channels, the airport, which belongs to the Pacific Airport Group (GAP), alerted travelers to the impending work:
“We inform you that, at the end of February, the construction of the Las Juntas overpass will begin, a project in charge of SIOP Jalisco. This construction will be carried out in parallel with the works of the construction company Mota-Engil to complete the highway exit, so road impacts are expected in the coming months on Highway 200. We recommend taking precautions, anticipating travel times, and being attentive to updates on the work.”
According to local authorities, at least 10 projects are planned in the Las Juntas district and surrounding areas, located close to the airport. The Jalisco Infrastructure and Public Works Secretariat (SIOP) and the municipal government have indicated that these projects will be conducted in stages to improve overall road safety and efficiency.
Meanwhile, progress continues on the final phase of the Guadalajara–Puerto Vallarta Short Route, leading to temporary lane reductions on Francisco Medina Ascencio Avenue and Federal Highway 200. Motorists should expect these lane closures to continue for the next six to eight months, further contributing to travel delays.
Airport officials and local authorities are urging travelers to plan ahead, allow extra time for their journeys, and stay informed through official channels for the latest traffic updates and alternative route suggestions.
