The year was marked by significant incidents, including 21 intentional homicides, a slight decrease from the 25 recorded in 2022. The use of firearms was a notable factor in these homicides, with ongoing investigations aiming to apprehend those responsible.
Robbery emerged as a prevalent crime in the city, with 1,131 cases reported in various forms. The statistics reveal 9 robberies against account holders, 88 from inside vehicles, and a concerning number of 185 business robberies. Additionally, 140 personal robberies, 215 thefts from private vehicles, and 195 home robberies were reported. The theft of auto parts and motorcycles was also significant, with 18 and 281 incidents, respectively.
Tragically, the city also saw ten suicides, predominantly by hanging, as per the Jalisciense Institute of Forensic Sciences. On a positive note, there were no kidnappings reported in Puerto Vallarta since 2019, reflecting effective preventive measures by the Prosecutor’s Office and Police.
Road traffic accidents constituted another major concern, with 13 fatalities and a total of 2,413 crashes. The details of these accidents underscore the urgency for enhanced road safety measures. Of the crashes, 266 resulted in injuries, 40 involved intoxication, and 560 lacked agreements, leading to legal involvement. A total of 1,549 agreements were made on public roads, including 227 in accidents with injuries and 117 for withdrawal.
The criminal traffic light system in Jalisco also highlighted a single case of feminicide in Puerto Vallarta. The suspect in this case is currently awaiting trial, following the Prosecutor’s Office’s swift action.
