Puerto Vallarta’s hotel and tourism community is adding a new event to the local calendar, and it is built around more than a day on the golf course. The first Hoteles Vallarta Invitational will bring together golfers, chefs, sponsors, and supporters for a fundraiser benefiting two local organizations. The tournament will be followed by a food market, music, and a silent auction, giving residents and visitors several ways to take part.
First Hoteles Vallarta Invitational set for Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta will host the first Hoteles Vallarta Invitational on Saturday, May 16, bringing about 100 golfers to Vista Vallarta Club de Golf for a new fundraiser tied to local causes.
The tournament is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on the club’s Jack Nicklaus Signature Course. The event will support Pasitos de Luz and Fundación Corazón de Niña, two organizations that work with children, youth, and families in the Puerto Vallarta and Banderas Bay area.
Organizers presented the event this week at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa. Representatives from the hotel sector, private businesses, tourism officials, and the beneficiary organizations attended the presentation.
The event is being promoted as a mix of golf, gastronomy, and fundraising. For local residents, it also adds another social event to the calendar as Puerto Vallarta moves into the late spring season.
Golf tournament will support two local organizations
The tournament will include several competition categories, including team play, Individual Gross, and Individual Net. Awards are planned for top competitors, with additional prizes connected to course challenges.
Vista Vallarta is one of the area’s best-known golf venues. The club has two 18-hole courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf. The Nicklaus course opened in 2001 and is located on higher terrain with views toward Puerto Vallarta, the marina, and Banderas Bay.
The choice of venue gives the fundraiser a setting already known to local golfers and visitors. It also allows the event to reach people in the tourism, hospitality, and foreign resident communities.
Funds raised through the event will go toward the two named organizations. Pasitos de Luz provides free services for children with disabilities from low-income families. Fundación Corazón de Niña describes its work as supporting vulnerable children, youth, and families through community, cultural, educational, and ecological programs.
Food Market and silent auction planned after golf
The fundraiser will continue after the tournament with an afternoon event at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa. That portion of the day will include a Food Market, a silent auction, live music, and participating chefs.
Chefs Ruffo Ibarra and Víctor Howard are listed among the invited culinary participants. Organizers said the Food Market will help raise additional funds for the beneficiary organizations.
The format gives non-golfers a way to support the event. Residents and visitors who do not play can still attend the afternoon activities, take part in the auction, and contribute through the food-centered portion of the fundraiser.
The combination of sport and dining also reflects a wider trend in Puerto Vallarta. Local events increasingly bring together tourism, hospitality, and charitable fundraising in formats that are open to both residents and visitors.
