June brings a thinner cruise calendar to Puerto Vallarta, with only four international ship calls listed by the federal port authority. The schedule does not mean the terminal will be quiet all month, but the activity is compressed into just two Tuesdays. That creates a different kind of pressure for tour operators, taxis, restaurants and shops that depend on cruise traffic, especially as Mexico’s cruise industry is growing elsewhere.
Puerto Vallarta’s June cruise calendar drops to four calls
Puerto Vallarta enters June with only four cruise ship arrivals on the tentative schedule, a sharp drop after the heavier winter and spring calendar at the city’s maritime terminal.
The June arrival calendar, updated May 28 by ASIPONA Puerto Vallarta, lists two double-arrival days. Carnival Panorama and Navigator of the Seas are both scheduled for Tuesday, June 9. The same two ships are listed again for Tuesday, June 23.
Carnival Panorama is scheduled from 8.50 a.m. to 10 p.m. Navigator of the Seas is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. ASIPONA marks the calendar as subject to change.
That gives the port two cruise days in the entire month, not four separate days of traffic. The difference is important for businesses that rely on walk-up activity near the cruise terminal, the Malecón, downtown, tour pickup points, and beach corridors. Double arrivals can produce a rush, but they do not replace steady weekly movement.
The June slowdown follows a busy start to 2026. Puerto Vallarta opened the year with 23 January cruise calls and later moved through a much heavier April calendar, before May eased to six scheduled calls. The new calendar cuts the month further and keeps activity concentrated around two Tuesdays.
Local slowdown comes as Mexico’s cruise traffic grows
National cruise traffic is moving in the other direction. The federal DataTur April cruise report shows Mexico received 4,835,510 cruise passengers from January through April, up 14.8 percent from the same period of 2025. Cruise arrivals rose to 1,425, up 10 percent.
The Pacific region posted stronger growth, with 1,708,341 passengers and 540 arrivals in the first four months. Puerto Vallarta cruise traffic did not follow that pace. The same report counted 74 arrivals in Puerto Vallarta from January through April, down from 76 a year earlier. Passenger volume edged up from 237,180 to 238,068.
Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora has framed cruise traffic as a source of direct spending in port cities. “The arrival of cruises generates direct benefits for receiving communities,” she said in a federal tourism statement, pointing to restaurants, shops, tourism services, transportation, and recreation.
At the port level, ASIPONA is still trying to sell a larger cruise role for Puerto Vallarta. In April, the port authority said it had presented the Puerto Vallarta Home Port project during Seatrade Cruise Global 2026 and held meetings with FCCA, Carnival Corporation, Royal Caribbean International, MSC, ITM Group, Global Ports Holding, and SSA Marine México. ASIPONA described the event as an “ideal showcase” for the project.
The next scheduled cruise day is Tuesday, June 9, when Carnival Panorama and Navigator of the Seas are due at the Puerto Vallarta maritime terminal.
