Puerto Vallarta’s restaurant chamber sees a narrow window around the 2026 World Cup. Guadalajara has matches; Jalisco has a broader tourism pitch; and local restaurateurs want the coast to catch some of that movement. Canirac is now pairing the message with a discount card for participating restaurants, aimed first at locals but tied to a larger push in Guadalajara and the Bajío.
Puerto Vallarta restaurateurs look toward World Cup
Puerto Vallarta restaurants are looking toward Guadalajara’s World Cup traffic as Canirac promotes the coast as a possible add-on trip for soccer fans visiting Jalisco in June.
Martha Leticia Parra Vargas, president of Canirac Puerto Vallarta, said the chamber hopes some of the visitors expected in Guadalajara will also reach Puerto Vallarta. Parra tied the effort to Jalisco’s push to present the destination as “La playa del Mundial,” or the World Cup beach.
Canirac points to Guadalajara traffic
Guadalajara is scheduled to host four World Cup matches at Estadio Guadalajara. The official Jalisco tourism page lists match dates on June 11, June 18, June 23, and June 26, including Mexico’s match against the Republic of Korea on June 18.
That schedule sits behind the local restaurant chamber’s pitch. Parra said the state tourism strategy includes investment in Public Viewing activity, while Puerto Vallarta’s restaurant sector hopes to catch spillover travel from fans already moving through Jalisco.
Vallarta Daily has also reported on Puerto Vallarta’s efforts to attract World Cup fans after matches and on separate plans for World Cup screens on the Malecón, both part of the broader local attempt to attach the city to the tournament calendar.
Discount card added to the restaurant push
During Canirac’s monthly breakfast with members, Parra also presented a Canirac card for participating restaurants. According to the report, the card will offer locals at least a 10% discount at member restaurants, along with other possible benefits such as courtesy drinks.
The card includes a QR code that diners can scan to review participating businesses and their promotions. Canirac Jalisco will also join the initiative, according to the same report.
Beyond the card, Canirac Puerto Vallarta plans to promote itself in Guadalajara and the Bajío, markets the chamber considers natural feeder areas for the city. Parra said that the campaign will include influencers hired with private resources.
Canirac’s national directory lists Martha Leticia Parra Vargas as president of the Puerto Vallarta delegation, with the local office included under the Jalisco section.
The announcement leaves the restaurant sector with two connected goals: to attract more attention from World Cup travelers and to give diners a reason to choose member restaurants once they are already in town.
