Residents of Mismaloya Triumph in Decades-Long Eviction Battle In Last Minute Court Ruling

PUERTO VALLARTA (PVDN) – In a landmark decision that marks the end of a 40-year legal struggle, the residents of Mismaloya, a small town near Puerto Vallarta, have emerged victorious in a critical eviction trial. The announcement was made at a press conference held at the López Cotilla primary school in Mismaloya this Tuesday.

The case, which has kept the community on edge for decades, was brought against the residents by Beatriz Beltrán y Puga y Navarro. However, the passing of Beltrán y Puga y Navarro on April 6, 2022, has led to the nullification of the sentence demanding the inhabitants hand over their properties.

While the victory is not yet officially confirmed, as there is a 15-day waiting period in case any heirs contest the ruling, the mood in Mismaloya is cautiously optimistic. The residents, who have faced continuous threats of eviction and lived under the shadow of uncertainty, are now hopeful that they will soon be able to live in peace.

The announcement of Beltrán y Puga y Navarro’s death, which effectively ended the legal battle, was met with emotional reactions from the townspeople. Many shed tears upon hearing the news, signifying the immense relief and sense of justice felt by the community.

This victory is not just a personal win for the residents but also holds significant cultural importance. Mismaloya, known as the first tourist icon of Puerto Vallarta, gained international recognition in the 1960s. The triumph in this case ensures that this historic site will remain in the hands of its rightful inhabitants and be preserved for future generations.

The case sets a precedent for perseverance and the fight for rightful ownership, highlighting the importance of community solidarity in the face of adversity. As the residents of Mismaloya await the final confirmation, their story serves as an inspiring example of determination and unity in the face of long-standing legal challenges.
