Woman Found Dead Near Mismaloya on Highway 200 South

A woman was found dead Friday morning along Federal Highway 200 south of Puerto Vallarta, near the Mismaloya area. Early reports say police and emergency crews responded after a 911 call about an unconscious person beside the road. Authorities have not confirmed her identity or the cause of death. Investigators are now reviewing whether the case involved an accident, an assault, or another set of circumstances.

Woman found beside Highway 200 south of Puerto Vallarta

Authorities are investigating after a woman was found dead along Federal Highway 200 South, near the Mismaloya area of Puerto Vallarta, on Friday morning.

The discovery was reported around kilometer 3.5, about one kilometer beyond the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta, according to early local reports. Emergency responders and municipal police went to the scene after a 911 call reported a person unconscious beside the highway.

When officers arrived, they found the woman lying on the shoulder of the road. Paramedics were called to provide assistance, but they confirmed she no longer had vital signs.

Identity and cause of death remain unconfirmed

Authorities had not confirmed the woman’s identity as of the first reports. Her age was described in early accounts as approximately 30 to 35 years old.

The woman was reportedly wearing a black top and black shorts. Early reports also noted a visible injury near her left eyebrow, though officials had not confirmed whether that injury was connected to her death.

Investigators have not said whether the case is being reviewed as an accident, an assault, or whether the woman may have been left at the location. Those details are expected to depend on forensic findings and the official investigation.

Fiscalía and forensic officials called to the scene

After paramedics confirmed the death, police secured the area to preserve the scene. The case was then referred to the Ministerio Público for the formal investigation.

Personnel from the Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office and the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences were expected to process the scene, collect evidence, and arrange the transfer of the body to the forensic medical service.

In Jalisco, violent or suspicious deaths involving women can trigger investigative protocols that require authorities to review the case with a gender perspective. That does not mean a legal conclusion has been reached. It means investigators must examine the circumstances before ruling out possible criminal causes.
