Puerto Vallarta (PVDN) – Viva Aerobus Flight BV 3235, from Puerto Vallarta to Guadalajara, experienced an engine failure mid-flight, forcing the aircraft to return to Puerto Vallarta on Wednesday evening.
A video circulating on social media, shared by journalist Oscar Mario Beteta, shows one of the plane’s engines exploding while over the sea. Despite the turbulence experienced, Viva Aerobus stated that there was no setback with the flight.
The airline activated the protocols established for this type of situation and successfully landed the aircraft at the Puerto Vallarta International Airport at approximately 4:29 p.m. Passengers were disembarked promptly, and the aircraft was immediately taken for inspection and necessary maintenance.
In a statement released at 5:00 p.m., Viva Aerobus expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the incident and reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to safety as the company’s top priority. They further stated that they designated the XA-VXC aircraft for the flight.
