Puerto Vallarta police are trained in handling missing person reports

Puerto Vallarta (PVDN) – The Puerto Vallarta Public Security Police Station and Tourist Police recognize the significance of having theoretical and practical knowledge of missing persons and have undergone training by the Jalisco State Commission for Missing People.

The training was conducted at the facilities of the Municipal Police Academy and involved more than twenty members of the Puerto Vallarta police force. The participants received initial training on forced disappearances and disappearances committed by individuals, as well as an overview of the General Law on the Matter and the Approved Protocol and Search for Girls, Boys, and Adolescents.

Xavier Valenzuela Ocegueda, the Director of Information Management of the Local Search Commission, provided insights into the General Law on Forced Disappearance and the Law on Disappeared Persons of the State of Jalisco. He highlighted the obligations that correspond to primary authorities.

Given that Puerto Vallarta is a tourist destination, the training also covered various scenarios that participants may face in the event of a disappearance in their region. They were made aware of the consequences they may face if they fail to act.

The training also clarified the differences between a missing person and a disappeared person, the various types of searches (immediate, generalized, individualized, family, and employer), the tools and resources available for search operations, and the importance of search IDs published by people or relatives on social networks.

During the training, various scenarios of possible disappearances were presented to enable participants to learn the correct way to act, always immediately. The participants expressed their interest and commitment to work in coordination with the Local Search Commission.

The Commission for the Search for Persons of the State of Jalisco remains committed to continue training and sensitizing personnel across the state regarding disappeared persons. The talks will continue in municipalities that request them within the state of Jalisco.
