Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, October 20, 2026 — Puerto Vallarta’s revised cruise calendar lists 17 October arrivals, retaining Discovery Princess for Wednesday, October 21, while dropping Brilliant Lady’s visit that day.
ASIPONA Puerto Vallarta updated the October calendar on Monday, October 19. It schedules Discovery Princess at Pier 1 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., leaving Wednesday with one cruise arrival instead of the two previously planned.
For guides, drivers, and businesses preparing for cruise passengers, the immediate change is this: Wednesday remains a cruise day, but Brilliant Lady’s customers will be spending it elsewhere.
Virgin Voyages’ October 16 weather advisory confirms that the ship’s October 17 departure from Los Angeles was rerouted because of Hurricane Trudy. Its replacement itinerary visits San Francisco, San Diego and Ensenada, with San Diego scheduled for October 21.
The company said sailing south could put the vessel on the stronger, more dangerous side of the storm.
“That’s too much of a safety risk and a gamble we’re not willing to take,” Virgin said.
That decision also explains why Puerto Vallarta’s port reopening at noon Monday does not restore the missing visit. Navigation has resumed locally, while Brilliant Lady is following an itinerary arranged before its departure.
The latest revision removes one arrival from ASIPONA’s previous 18-call calendar. Brilliant Lady’s October 21 entry has disappeared, and no replacement Puerto Vallarta date appears for that visit this month. Its October 7 entry remains listed.
October’s other cancellations occurred earlier, so the month’s overall reduction cannot all be attributed to Trudy. Reporting identified four previous losses: Coral Princess on October 2, Carnival Panorama and Voyager of the Seas on October 13, and Brilliant Lady on October 14.
The latter three were associated with Hurricane Simon. Vallarta Daily previously reported ASIPONA’s confirmation of the Voyager and Brilliant Lady cancellations.
The calendar has also gained a visit. Compared with the original October schedule, the revised version includes MSC Poesia on October 6. Five canceled calls and that additional visit account for the net reduction from 21 planned arrivals to 17.
For the remainder of October, the revised port calendar lists seven arrivals across six dates:
- October 21: Discovery Princess.
- October 22: Norwegian Encore.
- October 24: Koningsdam, remaining overnight into October 25.
- October 27: Carnival Panorama.
- October 28: Discovery Princess.
- October 29: Norwegian Encore and Carnival Firenze.
Those dates provide a working schedule for staffing, transport and excursion bookings. They do not establish how many passengers will come ashore or how much they will spend. ASIPONA labels the calendar tentative, and it contains no passenger occupancy figures to support a revised visitor forecast.
The overnight visit also needs to be counted correctly. Koningsdam’s appearance on October 25 records its departure, rather than another arrival. The ship is scheduled to dock at 7 a.m. Saturday, October 24, and leave at 5 p.m. Sunday, extending that visit through Saturday evening and into the following afternoon.
