Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Oct. 12, 2026 — Voyager of the Seas has canceled its Tuesday, Oct. 13, visit because of Hurricane Simon, Puerto Vallarta’s port authority said.
The cancellation follows Brilliant Lady’s withdrawal from its Wednesday, Oct. 14, stop. Asipona, the federal port operator, confirmed both cancellations.
The authority’s reported update puts October at 19 scheduled cruise calls, compared with 21 in the original program.
Two fewer visits for port businesses
For businesses serving cruise passengers, the cancellations mean two fewer ship visits this week and the loss of those passengers’ planned stops.
Our review of Asipona’s October calendar, updated Oct. 9, found Carnival Panorama listed for Tuesday and Discovery Princess for Wednesday. Those entries remain tentative; the port states that its calendar is subject to change.
That posted calendar already excludes Brilliant Lady’s Oct. 14 visit and lists 20 arrivals. Removing Voyager’s Tuesday call brings that count to 19.
The cruise changes coincide with Puerto Vallarta’s airport closure until 8 a.m. Tuesday, which operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico announced Sunday.
Brilliant Lady changes its route
Virgin Voyages rerouted Brilliant Lady’s Oct. 10 departure from Los Angeles. The company replaced Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta with Santa Barbara, San Diego and Ensenada.
“We know this isn’t the itinerary you originally planned, and we recognize it’s a significant change,” Virgin Voyages said.
The company said the revised voyage will return to Los Angeles as scheduled on Oct. 17. It also said excursions booked through Virgin for the removed ports will be canceled, with full refunds to the original payment method.
