Puerto Vallarta took its sales pitch straight to the U.S. Midwest, training more than 130 advisors in Chicago, Milwaukee, and Minneapolis. Hotels rolled out new-season offers, tour-operator partners reinforced their booking programs, and Volaris highlighted nonstop Guadalajara–Chicago service—part of a broader push to regain U.S. market share before winter. The campaign leans on stronger advisor education, a refreshed specialist program, and clearer air access from Midwest cities, including seasonal nonstops and charter options.
Setting up the sale
With winter planning underway, Puerto Vallarta’s tourism trust convened more than 130 travel advisors across Chicago, Milwaukee, and Minneapolis for destination training. Local hoteliers previewed fall–winter promotions while trade partners—ALG Vacations, Delta Vacations, and Price Agencies—walked agents through current booking tools and incentives. Volaris underscored its nonstop Guadalajara–Chicago link, a route that connects Midwest VFR and leisure traffic to the bay with a single connection onward to the coast. The event’s goal is straightforward: rebuild U.S. demand ahead of high season.
Why the trade push matters now
GAP, which operates Puerto Vallarta’s airport, reports only slight overall growth this summer. July traffic across GAP airports in Mexico rose about 1.8% year-over-year, with Puerto Vallarta eking out a modest increase while international arrivals have shown softness in recent months. That makes trade conversions—especially from the Midwest—more valuable this shoulder-to-peak ramp.
Puerto Vallarta Midwest travel advisors
The Midwest roadshow fits into a broader education strategy. Advisors can deepen product knowledge through the updated Puerto Vallarta Specialist program on Travel Agent Academy, now promoted in English and Spanish industry channels. Combined with hotel briefings and operator webinars, that curriculum gives front-line sellers sharper talking points on neighborhoods, seasonality, and value.
Air access: what clients can book
For Chicago, scheduled nonstops to Puerto Vallarta operate seasonally on American and United from O’Hare, giving advisors a clean weekend-friendly play. In Minneapolis–St. Paul, Delta, and Sun Country run nonstops during peak months. Milwaukee doesn’t have regular scheduled nonstops to PVR. Still, ALG Vacations’ Exclusive Nonstop Vacation Flights have operated seasonally and return in the winter charter window, giving Southeast Wisconsin sellers a direct option for package customers. Meanwhile, Volaris’ Guadalajara–Chicago nonstop remains a valuable bridge for travelers pairing GDL with the coast.
What partners brought to the table
ALG Vacations and Delta Vacations used the training to reinforce advisor-facing promos and planning tools. Both companies continue to position Puerto Vallarta prominently within their Mexico portfolios, with ALGV layering charter lift from secondary Midwest airports and Delta Vacations packaging resort stays with protected air and transfers for SkyMiles members. Price Agencies—a B2B distributor under PriceTravel Holding—rounded out the trade mix with platform inventory, agent rates, and dynamic packaging.
The message from Puerto Vallarta is consistent: educated advisors convert better, especially when they can point to reliable air and value-forward packages. With modest airport growth and uneven international segments this summer, trade-driven sales from the Midwest could make the difference as winter approaches. Expect more trust-led trainings, operator roadshows, and specialist content through the fall.
