Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, July 1, 2026 – Puerto Vallarta is starting Wednesday warm, humid, and partly cloudy, with a better chance of showers arriving later in the day.
Morning conditions in Puerto Vallarta
As of the latest airport observation at 5:40 a.m., Puerto Vallarta reported passing clouds, 26°C / 79°F, humidity near 89%, and light northeast wind around 3 km/h / 2 mph. The heat index early Wednesday was about 28°C / 82°F.
The daytime forecast calls for sun and clouds, with a high near 34°C / 94°F and a low tonight around 25°C / 78°F.
Rain chance and timing
The best window for rain appears to be the afternoon into early evening. Hourly forecasts show rain chances staying low through midday, then rising later in the afternoon, while the daily forecast calls for a couple of showers this afternoon.
Any rain that develops could be brief but locally heavy. Mexico’s marine weather service warned that tropical waves and low-pressure troughs over the Pacific could produce local storms, showers, gusty wind, lightning, elevated seas, and reduced visibility along parts of the Pacific coast, including Jalisco.
Heat, humidity, and outdoor plans
Humidity will make the afternoon feel hotter than the thermometer. Hourly readings show apparent temperatures climbing toward 39°C / 102°F to 40°C / 103°F during the hottest part of the day.
The morning is the best time for errands, walks, construction work, and beach time. By early afternoon, shade, water, and lighter activity will matter more than the actual air temperature suggests.
Beach, bay, and surf conditions
Beach conditions need extra attention today. SEMAR’s Pacific marine outlook lists a regional mar de fondo event, with 5- to 7-foot surf, long-period swell, and rip-current risk along a broad stretch of the Pacific coast from Chiapas to Sinaloa.
The regional coastal forecast also lists 5- to 10-knot winds, gusts of 15 to 20 knots, and 5- to 7-foot seas for the central Pacific coast zone. Conditions in Bahía de Banderas can be calmer than at open-coast beaches, but swimmers should follow posted beach flags and lifeguard instructions rather than judging the water from shore.
Storm and road notes for today
No routine morning forecast points to a full-day washout in Puerto Vallarta, but afternoon showers can still create quick ponding on low-lying streets, reduced visibility, and slick pavement. Drivers should allow extra time if rain develops during the late-day commute.
The National Hurricane Center was issuing advisories on Tropical Depression Four-E in the western Eastern Pacific early Wednesday, well west-southwest of Baja California. The outlook did not indicate a direct impact on Puerto Vallarta in the morning advisory.
Best planning window for Wednesday
Plan outdoor errands, beach walks, and exposed work for the morning when winds are lighter and rain chances are lower. Keep afternoon plans flexible, especially for boat trips, open-air dining, mountain roads, and beaches near river mouths.
Weather, surf, and beach flags can change during the day. Check posted lifeguard flags before entering the water and avoid swimming during lightning, strong surf, or near river mouths after rain.
