Authorities in Jalisco are reviewing the final hours of Henry Patrick Murphy, 58, after he was found dead inside a condo in Puerto Vallarta’s Emiliano Zapata neighborhood on Friday, September 19.
According to local officials, emergency crews responded at about 3:25 p.m. to a unit in the D’esire building on Constitución Street. A friend, who said Murphy had missed his regular daily check-in, entered the apartment and called for help. Paramedics confirmed he had died at the scene.
Investigative police and forensic staff from the Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office processed the condo and transferred the body to the medical examiner for autopsy. As of Monday, September 22, the agency had not released a cause of death.
Friends retraced Murphy’s movements the night before in the city’s Romantic Zone. They told reporters they spoke with business owners who recalled Murphy entering a neighborhood bar around 10:50 p.m. Witnesses said three men arrived about an hour later; one interacted with Murphy and the pair left around 12:12 a.m., with the other two departing minutes after.
Images of the trio circulating on social media have prompted people to allege a pattern of drug-and-rob thefts involving similar suspects. Police have not confirmed any link between those reports and Murphy’s death, and no public statement has tied the case to a broader scheme.
The investigation remains open while forensic results are pending.
