Robbery of 120,000 Pesos Inside Bank Branch in Puerto Vallarta’s Downtown Hotel Zone

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco – A man was robbed of 120,000 pesos inside a Santander bank branch in the Downtown Hotel Zone of Puerto Vallarta. The incident occurred at approximately 3 p.m. when the victim, a veterinary worker, visited the Santander branch in Plaza Genovesa to deposit a significant amount of cash.

While inside the bank, the man was approached and threatened by an armed assailant who demanded the cash. The robber, brandishing a firearm, successfully took the money from the victim before making a swift escape from the branch. Eyewitnesses report that the perpetrator fled the scene on a motorcycle.

The robbery is the second of its kind to occur within a short span of time in Puerto Vallarta. Just a couple of weeks prior, a similar robbery took place at another bank branch in the city, raising concerns among residents and local businesses about the safety and security within financial institutions.

Upon receiving the robbery report, the municipal police quickly mobilized and implemented an operation to apprehend the suspect. Despite their efforts, the alleged thief has not been located. The authorities are now intensifying their search and appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrator.

One notable aspect of the robbery was the apparent absence of private security personnel inside the bank branch at the time of the incident. This lack of security presence is believed to have facilitated the armed robbery, making it easier for the thief to carry out his crime without immediate resistance.

The recent spate of bank robberies has prompted calls for increased security measures within financial institutions in Puerto Vallarta. Bank customers and local businesses are urging bank management and city officials to enhance the security protocols to ensure the safety of both employees and patrons. Suggestions include the hiring of additional security personnel, the installation of advanced surveillance systems, and the implementation of stricter access controls within bank premises.

In response to the incident, Santander has issued a statement expressing their concern for the safety of their customers and staff. The bank assured the public that they are cooperating fully with local law enforcement to aid in the investigation and are reviewing their security measures to prevent future occurrences.

Municipal authorities have also addressed the issue, acknowledging the growing concerns and pledging to take necessary actions to improve public safety. They are working closely with local banks and security experts to develop a comprehensive plan aimed at bolstering security in and around financial institutions across Puerto Vallarta.

As the investigation continues, police are urging anyone with information related to the robbery to come forward. They emphasize the importance of community involvement in ensuring that such crimes are swiftly resolved and that justice is served.

This latest incident has undoubtedly shaken the community, highlighting the need for heightened vigilance and stronger security measures. Residents and visitors alike are advised to remain cautious and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

The Puerto Vallarta police department remains committed to protecting the community and is working diligently to bring the perpetrator to justice. In the meantime, they are urging the public to stay informed and take necessary precautions when handling large sums of money or conducting financial transactions.
