Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, June 19, 2026 – A planned water suspension will affect 136 colonias and fraccionamientos in Puerto Vallarta starting Monday, June 22, at 6:00 a.m., as crews relocate a drinking-water line tied to the Puerto Vallarta-Las Varas highway project.
SEAPAL Vallarta said service is expected to normalize on Tuesday, June 23, in the morning. The line supplies the Tanque San Francisco, a storage point serving a wide stretch of north, inland, and higher-elevation neighborhoods.
Residents in the listed areas should store water before Monday morning and limit nonessential use until pressure returns.
Why the water cut is happening
The suspension is linked to construction work for the new fast route connected to the Puerto Vallarta-Las Varas highway. SEAPAL said the highway concessionaire will carry out work to relocate a potable water line that supplies the San Francisco tank.
This is a planned utility cut, not a contamination alert. The notice does not include a boil-water advisory.
Still, the size of the affected area makes this a practical disruption for homes, renters, schools, restaurants, small businesses, and vacation properties north of central Puerto Vallarta.

How residents should prepare
SEAPAL’s message to residents was simple: “Store water beforehand and use it rationally.”
For households, that means filling clean containers before 6:00 a.m. Monday, save drinking water separately, and avoid laundry, car washing, patio cleaning, pool refills, and other heavy use until service stabilizes.
Residents with tinacos may still have water for part of the day, depending on household use. Homes without storage tanks will feel the cut sooner.
When service resumes, pressure may return gradually as the system refills. Some homes, especially in higher areas, may see low pressure before full service resumes.

SEAPAL expects the supply to normalize on Tuesday morning, June 23. That does not always mean every home will see full pressure at the same moment.
