Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Oct. 11, 2026 — SEAPAL said it restored Puerto Vallarta’s water supply Sunday afternoon after a preventive shutdown ahead of Hurricane Simon.
Director Carlos Ruiz said service restarted shortly after 3 p.m. “Recovery takes us approximately two hours,” he said.
In its official announcement, Seapal said it would give advance notice if another shutdown became necessary.
Water returning to homes and businesses
“Water should already be available throughout the city,” Ruiz said. He said neighborhoods still without service should regain supply soon.
According to the restoration report, the preventive cutoff covered more than 400 neighborhoods, affecting homes, businesses and tourism establishments.
Seapal also asked residents to continue following Civil Protection instructions in its announcement confirming the restart.
The preventive shutoff
We reported Saturday’s 6 p.m. cutoff before the storm. Based on that start time and Ruiz’s update, Seapal resumed supply about 21 hours later.
The utility’s storm-preparation plan, published Friday, called for closing storage-tank outlets before possible storm effects. Seapal said the measure would support an orderly restart when conditions allowed.
That plan also asked households to store enough water for at least 72 hours in rooftop tanks, cisterns or other containers.
Reporting a service problem
Seapal lists its headquarters at Avenida Francisco Villa and Manuel Ávila Camacho in the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood.
Residents can contact its user assistance service at 073, 322-226-9191 or 322-226-9190. The utility also lists WhatsApp reports at 322-105-8226.
