Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, July 11, 2026 – Puerto Vallarta will implement a new neighborhood garbage calendar on Wednesday, July 15, moving collection routes to two start times and assigning each colonia either daily service or four pickups per week.
The municipal announcement says morning routes will begin at 6.30 a.m. and evening routes at 7 p.m. City Hall asked households to place waste outside only on the days and times assigned to their neighborhood.
The change effectively replaces the collection system announced when the municipality resumed direct control in April. PVDN documented the takeover after City Hall ended the previous operating arrangement, while the municipal rollout used three daily route starts at 7 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The July calendar drops the afternoon start and divides neighborhoods between daily and four-day schedules.
City Hall did not use the word cancel when referring to the spring timetable. Even so, the two calendars have different times and frequencies. Beginning July 15, households should follow the new schedule rather than assume the March or April times still apply.
Neighborhood schedules beginning July 15
The public announcement reviewed Saturday was distributed via social media graphics rather than a searchable neighborhood directory. The list below includes every neighborhood identified in the searchable text, but it should not be treated as the complete municipal route list.
- Daily at 6.30 a.m. — Zona Hotelera, Olas Altas, Emiliano Zapata, Centro, Boca de Tomatlán, Mismaloya, Las Juntas, Delegación Las Palmas, El Colorado, Alta Vista, La Aurora, Jardines del Puerto and Villas del Puerto.
- Daily at 7 p.m. — Versalles, Fluvial Vallarta, Díaz Ordaz, Pitillal Centro, Ramblases, Bobadilla, La Moderna, Los Mangos, Playa Grande, La Floresta and Vista Bahía.
- Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 6.30 a.m. — Guadalupe Victoria, Villa Las Flores, Aeropuerto and Rincón del Puerto.
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 7 p.m. — Las Aralias, Los Sauces, Jardines de Vallarta, Coapinole, Vista Hermosa, Independencia, Ixtapa Centro, Villas Universidad, Costa Dorada, Nuevo Ixtapa, Magisterio and Villas del Real.
- Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. — Paseos Universidad, Sendero de Luna, Parques Universidad, Colinas de la Bahía and Sendero del Parque.
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 6.30 a.m. — Boca de Tomates, El Hundido, Las Guásimas, Las Higueras, Los Llanitos, Rancho Nácar, Ojo de Agua, Arboledas, Los Timbres, Nuevo Ranchito, Villas Mojoneras, Buenos Aires, Paso Ancho, Benito Juárez, López Mateos, Bugambilias, Agua Azul, Aramara, La Joya, Olímpica and 5 de Diciembre.
The city notice available Saturday did not provide a downloadable master calendar or a neighborhood search tool.
A route reset after months of missed pickups
The revised calendar follows months of complaints about missed collection and waste remaining on streets after the municipality took the service back from Red Ambiental. The disruption and public frustration were central issues when PVDN reported the April takeover.
The city has since expanded its fleet. A July vehicle purchase added four compactors and five pickup trucks paid through the federal beach-zone fund. A separate municipal procurement record lists an active tender to lease 26 additional compactors. The portal shows a planned June 30 contract date subject to change, but it does not establish that all 26 trucks are already operating.
A revised route map can improve timing only when enough trucks, crews and disposal capacity are available to complete the assigned rounds. The new schedule gives households clearer expectations, but its first test will be whether daily routes remain daily and four-day routes arrive on each listed day.
The route change also begins while the El Gavilán landfill remains under a partial state closure. PVDN reported Saturday that municipal compliance had not yet been fully demonstrated to Jalisco environmental inspectors, leaving the site exposed to fines or a broader shutdown.
Beginning Wednesday, waste should be placed out close to the assigned route start rather than hours earlier. Households missing from the text list should verify their colonia in the municipality’s route graphics, since the new calendar is the schedule City Hall says will govern collection from July 15 onward.
