The Observatory has highlighted the urgent need for legal frameworks to prevent unauthorized modifications, constructions, and demolitions that threaten the cultural heritage of this beloved tourist destination. Without such regulations, the historic center faces a significant risk of losing its unique character and charm, which have long attracted visitors from around the globe.
During a recent press conference, members of the Citizen Observatory expressed their willingness to collaborate with municipal bodies and stakeholders in the process of declaring, preparing, and implementing the proposed management guide and regulations. The organization, which currently operates on a volunteer basis, is actively working on a plan to address these critical issues and safeguard the city’s heritage.
Moreover, the Observatory has extended an invitation to the public and interested parties to join the effort in protecting and conserving the historic center. The group is adamant that the Puerto Vallarta city council should urgently involve citizens and experts in a participatory approach to develop the management guide and regulations for the historic and downtown areas.
