PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta’s growing reputation as a premier Mexican Pacific destination has drawn considerable interest from international tourism powerhouses. Representatives from the Barceló Group’s travel division, Ávoris, and tour operator CATAI recently visited the region as part of their ongoing efforts to expand sales in the European market.
The spotlight on Puerto Vallarta has also prompted Mexicana Airlines, in partnership with the wholesale tour operator Euromundo, to organize a familiarization trip for 15 travel advisors from Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Puebla, and Hidalgo. This initiative aligns with the resumption of Mexicana Airlines’ AIFA–Puerto Vallarta route, featuring two weekly flights—Fridays and Sundays—served by B-737/800 NG aircraft with a capacity of 174 passengers.
During their stay, the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust facilitated an extensive itinerary for both the European tour operators and the visiting Mexican travel advisors. As part of this agenda, they conducted site inspections at numerous hotels, where participants had the opportunity to observe room setups, sample dining options, and review recent property renovations. These firsthand experiences enable travel professionals to accurately relay the quality and range of services that Puerto Vallarta offers.
Beyond accommodation tours, guests were treated to an immersion in Puerto Vallarta’s local attractions. Excursions included walks through the historic downtown area and along the iconic boardwalk, as well as eco-adventures at the River Park ecotourism park, featuring popular activities like ziplining and ATV rides.
At the close of their visit, travel agents unanimously praised Puerto Vallarta’s authentic Mexican culture, diverse culinary landscape, high service standards, and the famed warmth of its people—qualities that have helped earn it the moniker of “the friendliest city in the world.” According to organizers, initiatives like these familiarization trips and the ongoing commitment by the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust to promote the city both domestically and abroad are key to bolstering visitor numbers and securing the region’s status as a standout tourism destination in Mexico.
