The May 21 program put testing, vaccines, visibility, and public events on the same schedule, with activities centered in the Zona Romántica and along the parade route from the hotel zone. The day also reflected Pride’s growing role as both a rights event and a tourism draw for Puerto Vallarta.
Vallarta Pride Parade Day Opens With Health Push
Vallarta Pride 2026 opened its main parade day, Thursday, with a health campaign, followed by the Pride Parade and an evening Block Party in Puerto Vallarta’s Zona Romántica.
The May 21 program included rapid testing for sexually transmitted infections and vaccination services before the city’s main Pride procession. The parade was scheduled for 4 p.m., with a route from the hotel zone toward the Zona Romántica.
The day was one of the central points of Vallarta Pride’s weeklong calendar, which runs from May 17 to May 24 under the theme “La nueva era: un Pride muy mexicano.”
Health services came before the parade
The health campaign was listed as part of the Pride program for May 21. It included rapid testing and vaccination services in the Zona Romántica.
A separate event listing described the campaign as offering free prevention services, including rapid tests for HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B and C. It also listed information on HIV and STI prevention, including PrEP, PEP, and DoxyPEP.
Vaccines listed for the campaign included HPV, measles-rubella, tetanus, hepatitis B, and influenza. The event was scheduled at Lázaro Cárdenas 240, with service hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Parade and Block Party anchor the day
The main Pride Parade was scheduled for 4 p.m. on Thursday. The procession was described as running from the hotel zone to the Zona Romántica.
Organizers also scheduled the Block Party for 6 p.m. on Calle Lázaro Cárdenas. The event was promoted as a free public celebration after the parade.
Singer Fey was listed as the main performer for the Block Party. Johnny Caz was also listed among the performers connected to the evening event.
The Thursday program combined public health, street visibility, and entertainment into a single day. It also brought some of the week’s largest crowds into the same part of the city.
Public and private groups backed the program
The event was presented in partnership with state tourism officials, the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, the municipal government, and private businesses.
The Pride program has also been framed by organizers and tourism officials as a rights event and an economic event. Officials have linked the celebration to Puerto Vallarta’s position as a major LGBTQ+ destination.
Organizers estimated that the week could draw about 30,000 to 35,000 visitors. The main activities are concentrated in the Zona Romántica, the Malecón, and nearby public areas.
Vallarta Pride 2026 continues through May 24 with additional cultural, social, athletic, and nightlife events.
