SEAPAL says Puerto Vallarta’s Centro-Norte sewer collector is stable again after a collapse near México and Prisciliano Sánchez avenues, though repair work at the site is still underway.
The sewer line kept operating after crews intervened at the damaged point, according to SEAPAL’s latest update on the collector repair. The agency said the work avoided a larger disruption to the city’s sanitary system.
The collapse was reported along Avenida México, between El Capricho and Las Moras. It opened a sinkhole tied to one of the main sewer collectors serving the Centro-Norte area of Puerto Vallarta.
Crews move from emergency work to reconstruction
SEAPAL said workers cleared the obstruction, secured the excavation, and placed shoring inside a work area about 6.3 meters deep. The agency said the collector was stabilized within 72 hours.
The next part is slower. Crews are rebuilding the collector box at the damaged section, a job meant to restore the line rather than patch only the visible collapse.
SEAPAL also said the main drinking-water line inside the work zone was protected. Water service is continuing normally while sewer repairs continue.
A previous Puerto Vallarta infrastructure update noted that SEAPAL had set a 72-hour target for the first phase of the response. That target has now been met, but the street work is not finished.
Versalles remains part of the cleanup
The sewer failure also reached Versalles, where crews have been carrying out sanitation work to reduce odors and health risks. SEAPAL said those works are continuing.
The agency has not given a final reopening date for the full work area near Avenida México and Prisciliano Sánchez. Drivers should expect activity around the site while crews finish the reconstruction.
The immediate risk has been contained, based on SEAPAL’s update. The remaining issue is the repair itself, plus the cleanup in Versalles where sewer odors had already become part of the problem.
