Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, November 7, 2026 – A missing-person search was scheduled for Friday in Puerto Vallarta. By Saturday morning, there was still no public update on which areas search teams covered.
Where Friday’s search teams were able to look
The local collective Una Luz para Nuestros Desaparecidos scheduled Friday’s search and planned to share missing-person notices in Vallarta and elsewhere in the region. Organizers Lidia Fregoso and Emma Alvarado said they planned to visit areas where people sleep outdoors to see whether anyone might match an active missing-person notice.
Saturday’s questions are where the collective can look and whether Jalisco authorities will confirm any new search activity of their own.
Madero files a complaint over the COMUDE incident
Councilwoman Melissa Madero says an employee pushed her to the floor and kicked her Thursday when she went to the Consejo Municipal del Deporte offices in Bobadilla to request spending and payroll records. “He threw me to the floor and kicked me,” Madero said.
COMUDE director William Arredondo denied the allegation. “Councilwoman Melissa was never assaulted,” he said. He said the office has recordings and that financial records have to go through the transparency office.
Metrópoli Bahía reported that Madero filed a complaint with the Fiscalía del Estado de Jalisco and shared a medical report from the Cruz Roja. As of Saturday morning, prosecutors had not yet confirmed publicly whether they’d opened a formal investigation.
A smaller tourism increase heads to the full chamber
Puerto Vallarta hotel and business groups asked Thursday for MXN 5 billion for national tourism promotion in the 2027 federal budget. The next chance for that proposal to gain ground comes Monday, when the full Cámara de Diputados is expected to start debating the spending bill.
The budget committee voted 30–13 Friday to advance the bill. The version going to the floor would shift MXN 20 million from the Instituto Nacional Electoral to the Secretaría de Turismo to promote destinations. The larger request backed by Vallarta’s business groups is still pending.
Where people sleeping outdoors can get help this weekend
Residents and merchants say they’re seeing more people sleeping outdoors in central Puerto Vallarta. People have reported seeing makeshift shelters on Isla del Río Cuale and people sleeping near the Museo Naval.
The weekend question for City Hall and the municipal DIF is whether outreach teams will be out and where someone who needs a place to sleep can go for help.
Punta Paraíso still has no demolition date
Bahía de Banderas Mayor Héctor Santana García said that the municipality will first give the owners formal notice to demolish the damaged Punta Paraíso tower in San Pancho. If the owners fail to act, the municipality plans to do the work and seek to recover the estimated MXN 8.93 million from the company.
The tower reportedly shifted again on November 2 as waves battered its foundations. Municipal legal director Marcos Parra Becerra said the notices must go out and the legal deadlines must be met before demolition can begin. The municipality has yet to give crews a start date.
