Where to Get Free Winter Vaccines in Puerto Vallarta

Where to Get Free Winter Vaccines in Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, October 14, 2026 – Jalisco formally launched its winter vaccination campaign October 13, offering free flu and COVID-19 shots, pneumococcal protection for older adults and a parallel HPV campaign.

For residents planning a vaccination visit, especially older adults, the practical question is straightforward: Where can you get the vaccines you need in Puerto Vallarta?

The state’s campaign covers public health centers and hospitals. Vaccination is free across a network of 580 health centers and 40 hospitals operated by Servicios de Salud Jalisco, along with other participating institutions. The winter campaign continues through April 2, 2027.

Residents can get help locating a vaccination point through Línea Salud Jalisco at 33 3823 3220, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

There is a practical limitation: The published information reviewed for this article does not provide a Vallarta-specific winter vaccination timetable or daily vaccine inventory. The addresses and hours below come from the official clinic directory; they are general opening hours, rather than confirmed vaccination hours.

Where to start in Puerto Vallarta

Jalisco’s official directory of public health units lists these local clinics. All six publish Monday-through-Friday opening hours.

Health centerAddressPublished opening hours
Puerto Vallarta CentroJuárez 956, Centro7 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
Dr. Roberto Mendiola OrtaRivera del Río 200, Benito Juárez7 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
Rafael Cueva ZepedaAbasolo 88, Leandro Valle7 a.m.–4 p.m.
Las JuntasLázaro Cárdenas 128, Las Juntas7 a.m.–4 p.m.
IxtapaNiños Héroes, without a street number7 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
Ixtapa 2Gaviota 161, Jardines7 a.m.–8 p.m.

These locations give residents options close to Centro, the southern neighborhoods, Las Juntas, and Ixtapa. When calling the health line, give the clinic’s name and ask when its vaccination service operates.

IMSS is another option. Its official facilities directory lists UMF 170 Del Mar on Océano Pacífico in Palmar de Aramara and UMF 179 Las Parotas at Sagitario 206 in Bosque del Progreso. IMSS publishes 322 224 9700 as a contact number for UMF 170.

Residents who normally use private doctors should not assume they need IMSS enrollment for campaign vaccination.

“Go to your nearest IMSS unit, whether or not you are enrolled,” the institute says in its 2026–27 winter campaign notice, translated from Spanish.

Which vaccines should older residents ask about?

For adults 60 and older, the current IMSS eligibility chart includes influenza and COVID-19 vaccination. It also identifies pneumococcal vaccination for older adults without a previous vaccination history.

That makes your earlier vaccine record useful. If you received a pneumococcal shot abroad, tell the vaccination staff when you got it and, if possible, which product you received. Staff can then assess whether another dose is appropriate.

Younger adults may also qualify because of health conditions. The IMSS chart includes influenza and COVID-19 vaccination for people living with diabetes, essential hypertension, cancer, kidney disease, and several other conditions, as well as pregnant patients and health workers. Eligibility differs by vaccine, so a chronic condition does not automatically qualify someone for every shot in the campaign.

The local effort follows the seasonal approach described in Vallarta Daily’s coverage of last year’s flu vaccination campaign, which also included pneumococcal protection for older adults. This year’s visit should be based on the current eligibility rules and your vaccination history.

What to bring

Bring your Cartilla Nacional de Salud, Mexico’s health and vaccination booklet, if you have one. Any vaccination records from the United States, Canada or another country can also help staff review previous doses.

In its January vaccination guidance, IMSS said staff should consult the booklet to identify missing vaccines, but not having it does not prevent vaccination.

The Jalisco launch information does not set out a separate documentation checklist for foreign residents. When arranging your visit, ask which identification the clinic accepts and whether it requests a CURP, Mexico’s population registry code. Do not present a passport or residency card as a confirmed requirement without that local check.

For families, the parallel HPV campaign has a different target population. Health Secretary Héctor Raúl Pérez Gómez said it includes boys and girls in fifth grade, unvaccinated girls ages 12–16, and certain additional groups. That campaign remains active through July 9, 2027.

Before paying for a taxi or arranging a ride, call 33 3823 3220 with your age, the vaccine you are seeking, and your preferred clinic. Ask for its vaccination hours, whether that dose is available, and which documents to bring. Those details determine whether the trip ends with a vaccination or another journey across town.
