2025 Vallarta International Charro Championship to Showcase Tradition and Charity

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – From January 30 to February 2, 2025, Puerto Vallarta will host the prestigious Vallarta International Charro Championship, an event that will bring together the finest charro and escaramuza teams from Mexico and the United States. The championship, supported by the government of Luis Munguía, promises to celebrate Mexico’s rich cultural heritage while boosting tourism and economic activity in the region.

Representing President Luis Munguía, Councilwoman Erika Yesenia García Rubio, president of the Permanent Municipal Commission for Recreation and Sports, emphasized the significance of the event. “The charrería is a deeply rooted tradition in Mexico, and this championship not only honors our cultural identity but also generates substantial economic benefits for Puerto Vallarta,” she stated.

The championship will take place at the renowned Lienzo Charro Miguel “Prieto” Ibarría, where spectators can witness thrilling displays of horsemanship, roping, and traditional charro skills. This year’s event carries an added purpose, as 50% of the proceeds from ticket sales on Friday, January 31, will be donated to the Andrea 3.21 Foundation, a local organization dedicated to supporting over 30 children in need.

Daniel Armando Ibarría López, president of the organizing committee, extended a warm invitation to locals and visitors alike. “This is more than a competition; it’s a celebration of our traditions and an opportunity to come together for a charitable cause. We invite everyone to join us for four days of excitement, culture, and community,” he said.

In addition to the championship, attendees can look forward to the traditional Maleconeada, a festive gathering along Puerto Vallarta’s iconic Malecón. This event offers a unique opportunity for the public to mingle with charros, enjoy live music, and celebrate the enduring legacy of charrería, one of Mexico’s most cherished disciplines.

The 2025 Vallarta International Charro Championship is poised to be a highlight of the year, blending sport, tradition, and philanthropy. Whether you’re a fan of charrería or simply looking to experience a vibrant piece of Mexican culture, this event is not to be missed.
