900 kilograms of methamphetamine in Palenque

FGR seizes 900 kilograms of methamphetamine in Palenque, Chiapas

Palenque, Chiapas – The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) seized about 900 kilograms of methamphetamine during an operation in Palenque, Chiapas. Agents also secured a firearm, chemical reactors, roughly 500 bags of caustic soda, other substances, two vehicles, and additional equipment located on the property. The site and all items were placed at the disposal of the Federal Public Ministry (MPF), which is continuing the investigation.

Authorities said the action was carried out by elements of the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM) and expert personnel. The team coordinated with the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the National Guard (GN), and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC). The operation was directed by the MPF attached to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office in Chiapas.

Officials did not immediately report arrests. They also did not release the exact location of the property or the time the action began. Prosecutors indicated the case remains open and that results will be disclosed as procedures advance.

Evidence secured for forensic analysis

The presence of reactors and large quantities of chemical inputs points to industrial-scale processing, a common feature in synthetic drug cases. Forensic specialists will weigh, test, and catalog the seized substances and equipment to confirm their composition and use. Those results will be added to the case file under MPF supervision.

Chain-of-custody procedures apply to the firearm, vehicles, and all recovered items. Each will be examined for trace evidence, serial numbers, or alterations. The goal is to establish provenance, possible prior use, and any links to broader criminal activity.

Interagency operation under MPF direction

This case reflects routine coordination among PFM, SEDENA, GN, and SSPC in high-risk searches. PFM personnel conduct investigative tasks and secure the scene. Military and Guard units provide perimeter support and movement security. The MPF sets legal direction, authorizes expert work, and determines next steps.

Once laboratory analyses are complete, MPF will decide on legal actions supported by the evidence. That may include requests for additional searches or interviews. If the property’s ownership or tenancy is established, prosecutors can pursue accountability based on findings in the file.

What remains unknown

Authorities have not stated whether the location functioned as a production site, a storage point, or both. They have not detailed how the operation began or whether prior surveillance occurred. The quantity of methamphetamine and the volume of inputs will be central to the final assessment.

The investigation is active. Further updates are expected as testing concludes and the MPF determines the legal course. For now, prosecutors say the evidence remains secured, and the case continues under federal authority.
