Mexico’s Vacation Rental Boom is in Full Swing and Puerto Vallarta Isn’t Left Out

Puerto Vallarta (PVDN) – The vacation rental industry in Mexico is currently thriving, marking an unparalleled period of success. From January to March 2023, INEGI recorded an impressive influx of nearly 18.8 million international visitors. This figure represents an increase of 3.87 million visitors or 25.9% when compared to the corresponding period in 2022.

During the first quarter of 2023, international visitors contributed approximately $8.338 billion to Mexico’s economy, marking a 23.1% rise from the same timeframe in 2022.

As a result, industry experts are set to convene at the XII International Tourism Summit AMPI 2023. The summit, which takes place from June 14 to 16 at the Riviera Social, Civic and Cultural Center in Ensenada, Baja California, aims to foster networking, share industry insights, and spotlight opportunities for real estate investments in Mexico’s popular tourist destinations.

The upcoming conference was announced by Ignacio Lacunza Magaña, National President of the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals AC (AMPI), and Monica Álvarez Toledo, Vice President of Events. AMPI, a non-governmental entity, has been at the forefront of Mexico’s real estate sector for over 67 years.

The XII International Tourism Summit AMPI 2023 is expected to draw more than 600 attendees, a 30% increase from the previous gathering. Attendees include real estate consultants, developers, appraisers, representatives of business chambers, financial institutions, investors, students, and the general public.

The summit organizers noted that vacation rentals have recently surged in popularity as a viable alternative for accommodations in the real estate and tourism sectors. They are especially appealing to individuals who combine travel and work, leading to high demand for rentals that provide reliable internet connectivity and comfortable workspaces.

Lacunza Magaña revealed that top destinations such as the Riviera Maya, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán, and Riviera Nayarita have experienced a spike in demand. The popularity of these locations is anticipated to persist, given their appeal to both leisure and business travelers.

Tourists flying into Mexico spent an average of $1,204 from January to March 2023, a 4.0% increase compared to the same period in 2022. Meanwhile, international tourist arrivals via air increased by 14.8% in the first quarter of 2023, reaching 5.76 million, as opposed to the same period in the preceding year.

Moreover, Lacunza Magaña underscored that the contribution of tourism to Mexico’s GDP grew from 6.8% in 2020 to 7.5% in 2021. In 2023, this figure is anticipated to hit nearly 8.6%, returning to 2019 levels.

The XII International Tourism Summit AMPI 2023 will explore topics such as the emergence of short-stay rental platforms, the role of “Trusts in Restricted Areas” that allow foreign investors to access the Mexican real estate market, and the prospects for purchasing in the tourism market. The conference will also include sessions on “Blogstars: The Art of Becoming an Opinion Leader” for developing leadership and influence within organizations.

Mónica Álvarez Toledo, the Vice President of Events, stressed that AMPI continues to promote real estate developments in tourist regions, seeking investment opportunities for their clients to enjoy the diverse offerings of the country.

The AMPI 2023 International Tourism Summit will provide participants with large conferences, expert panels on industry topics, and ample opportunities to network with domestic and foreign investors interested in Mexico’s vacation spots.

Lastly, Lacunza Magaña outlined the AMPI program, Ambassadors of Real Estate Investment, designed to stimulate investment across all 32 Mexican states. This initiative encourages local authorities to provide incentives to investors through local contributions, thereby stimulating regional economies.

This year’s summit represents an ideal platform for a holistic exploration of the burgeoning vacation rental sector. With a key focus on enhancing connectivity between stakeholders, disseminating critical industry data, and showcasing real estate investment opportunities, the XII International Tourism Summit AMPI 2023 promises to leave a significant impact on the industry.

It is anticipated that the insights gained at this summit will fuel the continued growth of the vacation rental sector in Mexico, serving both as a magnet for international travelers and a crucial pillar of the national economy.

Furthermore, as remote work continues to grow in popularity worldwide, the demand for vacation rentals with quality work environments and reliable internet access is expected to increase. These trends are poised to shape the future of the sector, providing exciting opportunities for businesses, investors, and tourists alike.

In conclusion, the XII International Tourism Summit AMPI 2023 is a pivotal event for all those involved in Mexico’s vibrant tourism and real estate industries. It’s a testament to the nation’s resilience, innovative spirit, and commitment to continuous growth and development, even in the face of global challenges.

With initiatives like the Ambassadors of Real Estate Investment, Mexico is determined to tap into the potential of all 32 states, ultimately ensuring a brighter, more prosperous future for its tourism and real estate sectors.
