PUERTO VALLARTA (PVDN) – An accounting firm in the city found itself the target of armed criminals, who successfully made away with nearly 200,000 pesos following a daring daylight heist.
The incident unfolded shortly after employees of the firm withdrew the cash from a bank branch in the city’s bustling tourist area. The criminals, who later fled the scene on a motorcycle, threatened the workers before absconding with the money.
Upon realizing the magnitude of the crime, the victims promptly informed the local police. Officers were dispatched to the firm’s Colonia Valentín Gómez Farías office to commence initial investigations.
The victims recounted their ordeal to the authorities, explaining how the thieves accosted them upon their return from the Plaza Caracol bank branch. The workers believe the criminals had been trailing them before the robbery.
State Prosecutor’s Investigative Police also arrived to bolster the investigative efforts. However, the perpetrators’ current whereabouts remain unknown.
This incident underscores a concerning trend in Puerto Vallarta. According to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, the city has witnessed at least 70 robberies targeting pedestrians on public streets from January to July. Alarmingly, the majority of these incidents involved violence.
Residents and visitors are urged to exercise caution, especially when conducting significant sums of money transactions.
