PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico – The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust has projected that hotel occupancy in Puerto Vallarta is set to reach full capacity during the upcoming end-of-year holiday season. Luis Antonio Villaseñor Nolasco, the general director of the organization, shared this optimistic forecast, highlighting the city’s popularity among travelers, particularly from the United States and Canada.
Nolasco stated, “These are periods that we already have very marked, Easter and the end of the year. For Christmas week, we are going to be above 80 to 85 percent, and by the end of the year, on the eve of 2024 and the first days of the new year, we expect occupancy rates to reach 99 to 100 percent. Even in the days leading up to these festivities, we anticipate being above 95 percent because many people are looking to experience our city during this special time.”
He emphasized that after the recent conclusion of the Guadeloupan pilgrimages, Puerto Vallarta is now preparing to welcome visitors for the Christmas and New Year holidays, including Three Kings Day. The destination has consistently been a preferred choice for travelers, especially those seeking refuge from colder temperatures in various parts of the United States and Canada.
Nolasco further noted, “That is why we have very high expectations for the year-end period. This year, we have broken occupancy records throughout the year, and we hope to end the year with an average occupancy rate of around 72 to 75 percent. Air tourism has also seen double-digit growth. We are poised to close the year on a positive note and begin the next year with enthusiasm.”
One of the strengths of Puerto Vallarta, according to Nolasco, is its accessibility to both national and international tourists. Unlike some other beach destinations in Mexico, travelers can reach Puerto Vallarta not only by air but also by road, making it an attractive choice for a wide range of visitors.
As the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) prepares for the holiday season, the school calendar indicates that December 15, 2023, will be the last day of classes. Teachers will commence their vacation from January 3 to January 5, 2024, and classes are set to resume on January 8, 2024, offering students and educators approximately three weeks of well-deserved rest.
