Puerto Vallarta, Mexico—To enhance the safety and security of both residents and tourists in Puerto Vallarta, thirty new police officers have been officially integrated into the Directorate of Citizen Security. This follows their successful completion of the rigorous Initial Training Course for Municipal Preventive Police. The newly inducted officers, part of the XIX Generation of the Municipal Police and Traffic Academy, graduated after six months of intense training, demonstrating commendable dedication, perseverance, and ethical conduct.
Aleyda Citlalli Hernández Padilla, representing the new batch of officers, expressed her gratitude and resolve, stating, “Today marks the commencement of a new chapter in our lives – our policing career. We are committed to serving, protecting, and upholding the safety of our citizens, guided by the values instilled in us during our training. Our sincere thanks go to all our instructors for their strict yet nurturing guidance.”
Rigoberto Flores Parra, the Director of Citizen Security, highlighted the comprehensive training undertaken by the cadets to prepare them for the challenges of meeting community needs. “Our new officers face a tremendous responsibility to uphold and honor the principles of our corporation while serving the public and visitors of Vallarta. I encourage our team to maintain our standards of honesty, integrity, and exceptional citizen service. It is crucial that we support each other and work collaboratively to perform our duties effectively,” said Flores Parra.
The interim mayor, Francisco José Martínez Gil, administered the oath to the new officers during a ceremonial event. He urged the new members to embrace their significant societal roles with pride and loyalty, particularly as they contribute to maintaining Puerto Vallarta’s status as one of the safest cities in the nation. “The extensive 972-hour training program they completed is a testament to their academic and professional dedication to public service. Covering a range of crucial subjects across six modules, this program has equipped them with the necessary knowledge and skills to face the complexities of their roles as preventive police officers,” Martínez Gil elaborated.
The ceremony, which was attended by authorities, family members, and friends of the graduates, also saw the distribution of awards to the top performers of the batch: Ignacio Loyo Páez, Sandra Alcántar Salazar, and Omar Castro Morales. Acknowledgments were also extended to the academy instructors and the Citizen Security Directorate staff who played vital roles in the training of the new officers.
Among the dignitaries present were Tania Selenne Maya Toscano, councilor and president of the commission for Public Security and Traffic, and Roberto Hiram Plascencia González, deputy director of the Municipal Police and Traffic Academy. The ceremony was held at the Velas Vallarta hotel, acknowledged during the event with a special mention to its general manager, Juan Carlos López Ruiz, for hosting the significant occasion.
The addition of these 30 new officers to Puerto Vallarta’s police force underscores the city’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its inhabitants and the myriad of international visitors it welcomes each year.
