In a candid video, Belloso highlighted her motivation for speaking out, citing recent reports of a purported ban on banda music on Mazatlán beaches as a catalyst. The singer, known for her performances at Gaby’s Restaurant, expressed frustration over the closure of the iconic establishment, which she attributed to legal actions initiated by new foreign neighbors living across the street.
Belloso recounted her six-year tenure at Gaby’s, where she delighted patrons with her singing and guitar skills alongside other local artists. However, the tranquility of these performances was disrupted by the arrival of foreign residents, leading to a series of uncomfortable encounters that ultimately culminated in legal action against the restaurant.
Detailing the challenges posed by the foreigners, Belloso revealed instances of disruptive behavior, including the foreigners playing loud music to drown out performances and displaying overt disdain towards artists and diners, including booing street performers from their balcony.
The lawsuit against Gaby’s Restaurant came as a shock to Belloso and her colleagues, who were blindsided by the abrupt closure ordered by authorities. The absence of prior dialogue exacerbated the situation, leaving employees unemployed and musicians bereft of a platform to showcase their talents. Belloso expressed frustration over the lack of cultural understanding exhibited by the foreign residents, whose actions resulted in the cessation of live entertainment at the venue.
