Puerto Vallarta Receives 1.6 Million Tourists by Air in First Five Months of 2024

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco – Puerto Vallarta has welcomed 1.6 million tourists by air during the first five months of 2024, according to data from Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), the concessionaire managing the Vallarta air terminal. This significant influx of visitors marks a thriving period for the region’s tourism industry.

The Jalisco Tourism Secretariat attributes this achievement to the robust efforts to enhance air connectivity, a priority supported by the State Government and strategic partners. In a concerted effort to attract more tourists, the Jalisco Tourism Secretariat, in collaboration with the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area Tourism Trust and the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, has been actively working to forge agreements with airlines and tour operators.

The continuous improvement in air connectivity has been a focal point for the tourism authorities in Jalisco. Through strategic partnerships and targeted agreements, Puerto Vallarta has managed to expand its reach to a broader international audience. The introduction of new routes and the strengthening of existing ones are crucial components of this strategy.

This week, in a bid to further diversify the tourist base, the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust and the Guadalajara Convention and Visitors Bureau are promoting a new charter flight from Prague, Czech Republic. This route, scheduled to commence in October 2024 and continue until April 2025, is expected to bring an influx of European tourists, providing a significant boost to the local economy.

As of now, Puerto Vallarta International Airport boasts 47 routes, with 11 domestic and 36 international flights. This extensive network facilitates easy access for tourists from various parts of the world, making Puerto Vallarta a convenient and attractive destination for travelers.

The commitment to enhancing air connectivity is part of a broader strategy to position Puerto Vallarta as a premier tourist destination. The increased number of flights and new routes not only make it easier for tourists to visit but also encourage repeat visits, contributing to the overall growth of the tourism sector.

With the ongoing efforts to expand and strengthen air connectivity, Puerto Vallarta is poised for continued growth in its tourism industry. The strategic initiatives by the Jalisco Tourism Secretariat, along with the support of local tourism trusts, are expected to yield positive results in the coming months and years.

The introduction of the Prague to Vallarta charter flight is just one example of the proactive measures being taken to attract a diverse range of tourists. As Puerto Vallarta continues to enhance its connectivity and accessibility, it remains a top destination for travelers seeking the perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and modern amenities.
