Cabo Corrientes Government Fills Sinkhole on Highway to Tehuamixtle

Cabo Corrientes, Mexico – In a prompt response to infrastructure damage, the Cabo Corrientes municipal government has successfully filled a sinkhole that appeared recently on the highway leading to the coastal town of Tehuamixtle, a popular tourist destination. The swift action was taken with the support of heavy machinery, aiming to restore normal traffic flow and ensure the safety of motorists traveling to and from this scenic region.

Public Works personnel were on-site early this morning to address the issue, using two backhoes and a dump truck to fill the sinkhole, which had developed at kilometer 5+400 on the El Tuito-Tehuamixtle highway. The location of the damage, in the section known as La Curva de Los Cuates, had posed a potential hazard for travelers, especially with the onset of seasonal rains.

To ensure safety during the repair process, officers from the municipality’s Civil Protection unit provided flagging and signage to alert motorists to the ongoing work. Their coordinated efforts ensured that traffic in the area continued to flow smoothly while repairs were being made.

Although the sinkhole has been filled and currently poses no immediate threat to motorists, authorities urge caution when driving through the area. Civil Protection officials have warned that heavy rains could further affect the stability of the surrounding hill, potentially leading to additional erosion.
