An overnight Aeromexico delay produced Monday’s largest disruption at Puerto Vallarta International Airport. The remaining schedule showed no cancellations and only minor timing changes when flight information was checked at 6:45 a.m. CST on September 14.
Aeromexico Flight AM58 from Mexico City reached PVR at 1:59 a.m., 99 minutes after its scheduled 12:20 a.m. arrival. The onward AM58 service to Tokyo Narita departed Puerto Vallarta at 3:08 a.m. instead of 1:35 a.m., a delay of 93 minutes. Its estimated Narita arrival was 8:14 a.m. Tuesday, Japan time, 104 minutes behind schedule, according to the AM58 flight record.
The timing indicates the late Mexico City arrival carried into the Tokyo sector. Neither the airline nor the public airport information reviewed provided a reason for the delay.
The calendar-day schedule contained 37 arrivals and 37 departures after codeshare listings were removed. Arrivals run from AM58’s scheduled 12:20 a.m. landing through Aeromexico Flight AM340 at 11:04 p.m. Departures began with the delayed Tokyo flight and continue through Viva Flight VB4349 to Monterrey at 10:45 p.m.
No cancellation was posted on the arrival board or departure board at the time of the check. The live disruption index remained low.
After AM58, the largest displayed departure adjustment involved American Airlines Flight AA554 to Phoenix. Its estimated departure moved from 3:46 p.m. to 4:03 p.m., a 17-minute delay. Southwest Flight WN1299 to Phoenix was running 13 minutes behind schedule, while seven other departures carried 10-minute adjustments.
The arrival board showed far smaller changes. Alaska Airlines Flight AS437 from Los Angeles was estimated five minutes late, and American Flight AA2639 from Dallas was one minute behind schedule. Several other arrivals were expected early.
An airport weather observation issued at 5:47 a.m. reported eight miles of visibility, light wind from the northeast and a broken cloud ceiling at 4,000 feet. Those were usable aviation conditions, and no flight disruption had been attributed to weather at PVR.
Conditions still need watching later Monday. Mexico’s National Meteorological Service placed western Jalisco within a broad area where strong to very strong rainfall of 50 to 75 millimeters was possible. That is a regional forecast, not a rainfall total specifically predicted for the airport, but localized thunderstorms could alter arrival or departure estimates.
The National Hurricane Center reported no active tropical cyclones in the Eastern Pacific. A review of the airport operator’s current notices also found no PVR closure or airport-wide operating restriction.
