BCS Michelin Wins Give Los Cabos a Food Tourism Lift

BCS Michelin Wins Give Los Cabos a Food Tourism Lift

The 2026 Michelin Guide Mexico brought Baja California Sur a familiar but broader set of restaurant recognitions, led by Cocina de Autor Los Cabos and followed by Green Star, Bib Gourmand, and recommended entries. The awards arrive as Los Cabos continues to frame dining as part of its tourism offer. The details also show how the state’s food scene is being measured across multiple categories, from high-end tasting menus to value dining to sustainability.

BCS restaurants recognized in 2026 guide

Baja California Sur restaurants received a new round of Michelin Guide Mexico 2026 recognition, with Los Cabos again accounting for several of the state’s named establishments.

Cocina de Autor Los Cabos, in Cabo San Lucas, was listed with one Michelin Star. Acre and Flora’s Field Kitchen, both in San José del Cabo, received Michelin Green Stars. The guide also named Cocina de Campo by Agricole, Flora’s Field Kitchen, and Metate in the Bib Gourmand category.

The 2026 ceremony was held in Guadalajara. The guide’s Mexico selection now includes Baja California Sur along with Ciudad de México, Oaxaca, Baja California, Quintana Roo, Nuevo León, Jalisco, Puebla, and Yucatán.

Los Cabos keeps a Michelin star

Cocina de Autor Los Cabos is located at Grand Velas Los Cabos. Its recognition keeps Cabo San Lucas on Mexico’s Michelin star list for 2026.

The restaurant’s mention is the state’s highest-profile award in this year’s guide. Michelin star rankings are separate from Green Stars, Bib Gourmand mentions, and standard recommendations.

Green Stars and Bib Gourmand show wider range

Acre and Flora’s Field Kitchen received Green Stars, a category Michelin uses for restaurants linked to sustainable practices. Flora’s Field Kitchen also appears on the Bib Gourmand, earning recognition in two categories.

Cocina de Campo by Agricole in El Pescadero and Metate in Cabo San Lucas were also included in the Bib Gourmand. That category is used for restaurants Michelin considers strong on quality and price.

Several restaurants in Baja California Sur were also recommended by the guide. The list includes Acre, Al Pairo at Solaz, Árbol, Benno, Carbón Cabrón, Comal, LÍMO Heritage Kitchen at Suelo Sur, Los Tres Gallos, Lumbre, Manta, Mezcla, Nao, Nemi, Omakai, Oystera, Ruba’s Bakery, and Tenoch by Paradero.

These recommendations do not carry a star or Bib Gourmand label. They still place the restaurants inside the guide’s Mexico selection.

Food remains part of Los Cabos tourism

The awards come as Los Cabos continues to use dining as part of its visitor economy. FITURCA figures cited in the local report place gastronomy-motivated visitors at about 450,000, with average spending of 45,000 pesos during six-day stays.

That places the Michelin recognition within a broader tourism story for Baja California Sur. It ties the state’s restaurants to a travel segment that local officials have been tracking through spending and visitor motivations.
