Where is Conchas Chinas?
Conchas Chinas is a neighborhood, or zone, of Puerto Vallarta Mexico, located just south of downtown past Los Muertos Beach. Zona Conchas Chinas is also home to Playa Conchas Chinas (Conchas Chinas Beach).
The term Conchas Chinas means “Chinese Shells” referring to the type of shell found only on the beaches of Conchas Chinas.
Conchas Chinas beach is much more quiet compared to its neighbor beach, Playa Los Muertos.
Because the beach is quieter there is also less services, such as bathrooms and restaurants. When visiting Conchas Chinas Beach you may wish to pack a picnic and plan just a few hours instead of a full say without bathroom facilities.
Conchas Chinas Beach has many coves made from rock formations and areas that have turned the ocean into hidden pools of water to make for a romantic beach day.
Locals in Puerto Vallarta refer to the zone of Conchas Chinas as “The Hills” (as in ‘the Beverly Hills of Puerto Vallarta’). There are many gated communities perched high on the mountainsides directly on the bay, with many million-dollar homes owned by internationally-known celebrities and politicians.
