PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico – Municipal Civil Protection authorities have reported no significant damage or disruptions after four early-morning earthquakes were detected off the coast of Puerto Vallarta.
The first quake, registering a magnitude of 5.2 at a depth of 5 kilometers, occurred at 1:40 a.m. on Monday. It was located approximately 376 kilometers southwest of Puerto Vallarta. Just seven minutes later, a second quake with a magnitude of 4.1 was detected at a depth of 5 kilometers, roughly 374 kilometers southwest of the city.
Shortly afterward, at 2:12 a.m., another quake—this one recorded at magnitude 4.3—occurred in the same general area. The National Seismological System noted that this event was placed around 411 kilometers from Cabo San Lucas, Baja California, but was still close to the two previous quakes.
Later, at 3:50 a.m., a 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck 325 kilometers south of Cabo San Lucas, with a depth of approximately 6.9 kilometers. This event was also deemed near the cluster of earlier tremors.
In the wake of these geological occurrences, local Civil Protection officials have indicated there were no reports of damage or injuries. According to their statement, the majority of residents in the affected regions did not feel the quakes. Consequently, no emergency alerts or safety measures have been issued, and officials continue to monitor the situation as a precaution.
For now, authorities advise residents and visitors to remain calm, stay informed through official channels, and be mindful of standard safety protocols in the event of future seismic activity.
