Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, June 21, 2026 — A major scheduled water outage will begin across northern Puerto Vallarta at 6:00 a.m. Monday, June 22, affecting 136 colonias and fraccionamientos while crews move a water line tied to the Puerto Vallarta–Las Varas highway project.
The interruption covers about 39% of the city, including Marina Vallarta, Versalles, Fluvial Vallarta, Aramara, Vallarta 500, Villas Río, Las Aralias, Coapinole, Las Juntas, Las Mojoneras, and the upper El Pitillal area.
Service is expected to resume on Tuesday morning, June 23, but pressure may return unevenly. Homes and businesses in lower areas may recover first, while higher zones could take longer as tanks and lines refill.
A Highway Project Reaches the Water System
The work is tied to the construction of the Puerto Vallarta–Las Varas highway and the relocation of a line that supplies the Tanque San Francisco, one of the infrastructure components serving the city’s northern water network.
In a public notice from SEAPAL Vallarta, the utility described the work as a “temporary suspension of drinking water service.” Local reports from Telediario, Tribuna de la Bahía, Mirada Informativa, and NoticiasPV all point to the same core warning. A large share of the city’s north-side water network will be affected for more than 24 hours.

Who Should Prepare
The outage is large enough to affect daily routines well beyond private homes. Restaurants, small hotels, schools, clinics, laundries, offices, and rental properties in the affected zone should plan for reduced or no water through Monday and into Tuesday morning.
Residents should fill tinacos and garrafones before 6:00 a.m. Monday, postpone laundry, avoid unnecessary cleaning, and keep water available for pets, toilets, and basic kitchen use.
Hotels and short-term rental hosts should warn guests in advance. Restaurants and cafés should check storage, ice, dishwashing needs, and restroom plans before opening on Monday.
