Nuevo Nayarit, Nayarit, June 22, 2026 — A man died Monday morning after falling from the second floor of a condominium near Marina Nuevo Nayarit, in the municipality of Bahía de Banderas.
Emergency responders reached the property after the fall was reported, but the man no longer had vital signs when medical personnel evaluated him. His body was found near the entrance to the marina malecón, an area used by residents, boaters, workers, and visitors in one of Nuevo Nayarit’s busiest waterfront corridors.
The man’s name had not been released publicly by Monday afternoon. Investigators had also not said whether the fall was accidental, intentional, or connected to another circumstance. The early report by Tribuna de la Bahía said Nayarit tourist police, port authorities, and state prosecutors were involved in the response.
Investigation centers on condo near the marina
The fall was reported from a condominium identified preliminarily as part of the Náutico area of Nuevo Vallarta, across from the marina. That sits inside a mixed residential, tourism, and boating zone, where local police, tourist police, and port authorities can all be pulled into the initial response.
Personnel from the Capitanía de Puerto also took notice of the case. The Nuevo Vallarta port captain’s office has a listed presence in the area, and federal port directories place the office on Boulevard de Nayarit in Nuevo Vallarta.
PVDN is not naming the condominium beyond what has already been made public. The death remains under investigation, and authorities have not released enough information to determine whether there is any broader public safety concern for the marina area.
What authorities still need to establish
The next steps are expected to focus on what happened inside the property before the fall. Investigators will need to review the scene, collect any available evidence, and speak with people who may have seen or heard something before emergency crews arrived.
The body was expected to be transferred to the forensic medical service in Jarretaderas for the required examinations and legal process. The Jarretaderas SEMEFO office was opened to serve Bahía de Banderas cases locally, reducing the need to move all forensic work to Tepic.
For now, the case remains in the narrow but important space between a confirmed death and an unanswered investigation. A man died in a public-facing marina corridor. The cause and circumstances remain undisclosed.

Many residents and longtime visitors still call the area Nuevo Vallarta, especially around the marina and hotel zone. The official destination name changed to Nuevo Nayarit in 2022, but both names remain common in public use, listings, and local reporting.
