Aguascalientes News — A coordinated security operation led by the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the National Guard (Guardia Nacional), and the Aguascalientes State Public Security Secretariat (SSPE) dismantled an organized crime camp. This camp was located in the municipality of Rincón de Romos.
Backed by aerial support from a State Police aircraft, authorities conducted both ground and air reconnaissance in the area. During the sweep, officers located a remote site. They believed it to be a base of operations by a criminal group. Security forces encountered multiple individuals armed with high-powered weapons at the site.
To prevent further risk to nearby residents, the security agencies swiftly implemented tactical procedures aimed at neutralizing the threat. Their efforts led to the arrest of 18 individuals, all of whom are reportedly affiliated with an organized crime group. One suspect sustained injuries during the operation and was transported to a medical facility for treatment under custody.
Aguascalientes Organized Crime Seized Weapons
In addition to the arrests, officers confiscated a significant cache of weapons and tactical equipment, including:
- 20 firearms
- A grenade launcher
- 28 tactical vests
- Military-style helmets
- Multiple magazines and ammunition
- Various accessories
- One kilogram of white powder, presumably narcotics
Following the arrests, local authorities reported several acts of retaliation, including the burning of vehicles and the setting up of roadblocks in various parts of the municipality. These disturbances prompted the deployment of additional forces to secure the region. Their goal was to reestablish order.
As a precaution, residents were advised to avoid certain areas while police and military presence remained high. Officials emphasized that restoring calm and guaranteeing public safety remain their top priorities.
All 18 detainees were read their legal rights. They were handed over to the appropriate agent from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, along with the seized weapons and materials. The office will now determine the suspects’ legal status and potential charges.
The government of Aguascalientes has not yet released the names of those arrested or the specific criminal organization involved. However, authorities confirmed that intelligence efforts remain ongoing to monitor for further threats and dismantle related operations across the region.

This high-impact operation comes amid growing concern over the presence of organized crime in central Mexico. This region is traditionally perceived as more stable than states facing long-term cartel activity. Rincón de Romos, located roughly 40 kilometers north of the state capital, had seen sporadic reports of criminal activity recently. However, nothing was on the scale of this recent incident.
Local residents expressed both relief and concern following the raid. Some welcomed the swift action taken by federal and state forces. However, others remain uneasy about the potential for further violence or retaliation.
