Strengthening Urban Services and Infrastructure in Monclova Colonias

Monclova, Coahuila – Carlos Villarreal strengthens urban services across Monclova’s colonias this week, unveiling a package of public-works milestones delivered in partnership with Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas and the municipal water utility SIMAS Monclova-Frontera.

Strengthens urban services with water-network upgrades

In the city centre’s Progreso street, crews completed a full replacement of aging water mains under an investment of nearly one million pesos. Just south of downtown, a new sub-collector sewer line wrapped up after a 4.7-million-peso spend, restoring reliable drainage for more than 30,000 residents.

Villarreal noted that these works address decades-old needs, cutting pipe breaks and flooding during heavy rains. “By reinforcing our networks, we safeguard families’ daily routines and health,” he said.

Upgrades to recreation and public spaces

In the Miravalle 1 colonia, municipal teams pressed ahead on water and drainage line replacements, part of a pledge to renew ten streets this year. In the 21 de Marzo neighbourhood, Phase 1 of the soccer-court and green-area rehabilitation is now ready for use, complete with playground equipment and perimeter fencing. Phase 2 will install bleachers and lighting for night sports.

At the Nora Leticia Rocha sports complex, Villarreal inspected progress on the new archery field—set to be the state’s premier facility for high-performance athletes. Simultaneously, bench seating is rising at the Veterans, Garibay and 21 de Marzo fields, with work on La Ribera, Dora Vargas and Miguel Hidalgo expansion soon to start.

Civic pride through “Ola Monclovense”

Under the Ola Monclovense beautification program, crews repainted plazas, avenues and arroyos in Barrera, San Salvador, Campestre and more. From Plaza Málaga to José de Sucre, public spaces now shine with fresh paint, trimmed vegetation and litter removal—aimed at boosting community pride.

Villarreal stressed that visible results build trust: “We follow through on every promise. Working with the governor, SIMAS and citizens, we’ll keep Monclova moving forward with modern infrastructure and dignified public spaces.”
