Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, June 15, 2026 – Puerto Vallarta is scheduled to open a psychological services office today at Casa Joven in El Coapinole, offering services to residents ages 12 to 29.
The city said the office will operate inside Casa Joven, the municipal youth center that opened in May on Calle Guatemala in the Coapinole area. Herova Olmos, director of the city’s youth department, announced the service as a new point of psychological orientation for young residents of Vallarta.
As of Monday morning, the municipality had not published a full appointment schedule, intake process, staffing list, or emergency-care protocol. PVDN reviewed city and state materials and did not find a separate clinic appointment line posted publicly.
A new service inside Casa Joven
Casa Joven opened in May as a free municipal space for young people. City materials describe services that include psychological support, nutritional guidance, addiction-prevention work, a business incubator, and a coworking space.
Previous municipal information indicated the center could accommodate between 50 and 100 young people per day. The listed address is Guatemala 427 in El Coapinole.
The psychological office gives the youth center a more direct role in health services. It also places the service in a neighborhood away from the tourist corridor and the main municipal offices, where many city services are still concentrated.
The age range is broad. The Jalisco statistics institute estimated Puerto Vallarta had 96,685 residents ages 12 to 29 in mid-2024, the seventh-largest youth population among Jalisco municipalities. Statewide, that age group represented 30.6% of Jalisco’s population.
The office is aimed at middle-school students, high-school and university-age residents, young workers, and people already living on their own. Those groups do not all need the same kind of support, which makes the city’s operating rules important.
Questions still pending
The city has not said whether appointments will be required, whether walk-ins will be accepted, how many psychologists will be assigned, or how long each consultation will last.
It is also unclear how the office will handle referrals when a young person needs care beyond orientation or counseling. Casa Joven has not been described as a psychiatric clinic or an emergency-care site.
Jalisco’s mental health and addictions law requires mental-health services to protect user data and sets rules for care involving children and adolescents. The municipality has not explained how those rules will be applied at the Casa Joven office.
Jalisco’s official mental-health promotion portal lists crisis support through 075, 33 3833 3838, and the federal Línea de la Vida at 800 911 2000. Those remain the clearest options for urgent mental-health situations unless Puerto Vallarta publishes a specific crisis protocol for the new office.
Part of the city’s youth programming
The opening comes as Puerto Vallarta has been adding youth-focused prevention programs. Earlier this month, the city began a drug-prevention campaign with events scheduled through June 26, including forums, sports activities, and training sessions.
The city also recently hosted the launch of VigIA, a child-safety app meant to help identify grooming, bullying, and other online risks involving minors.
