Puerto Vallarta Continues to Attract Event Tourism

Puerto Vallarta has once again demonstrated its commitment to expanding its presence within Mexico’s meetings and events industry. Representatives from the popular seaside city, recognized as one of the premier destinations along the Mexican Pacific, recently held a series of meetings in Mexico City with prominent event organizers and associations. The goal was clear: to bolster Puerto Vallarta’s reputation as a top choice for hosting congresses, conventions, expos, incentive trips, and a range of other corporate functions.

As part of a strategic outreach led by the Tourism Promotion Trust’s Directorate of Groups and Conventions, representatives from various Puerto Vallarta hotels, DMCs (Destination Management Companies), and tour operators showcased the numerous advantages of holding events in the city. These include:

  • Strong Safety Record: A track record that reassures event planners and attendees.
  • High Attendance Rates: Historically stronger turnout compared to other cities.
  • Professional Network: An extensive pool of experienced local professionals to ensure smooth, successful events.

Among the supporters of the initiative, Laura Suárez, Director of Groups and Conventions for the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, emphasized the importance of maintaining direct ties with potential partners. “When visiting event organizers and associations, direct links are created that allow us to be in their top of mind, offering them a series of options and support to facilitate the realization of events of all kinds in our destination,” she said.

During the two-day round of meetings, Puerto Vallarta’s delegation conducted 60 business sessions with meeting planners and engaged with 13 associations based in the capital. Discussion points included the city’s modern hotel facilities, ample group accommodations, and unique local experiences available to participants. Additionally, the group highlighted Puerto Vallarta’s growing connectivity, now linked to 57 national and international destinations through 24 airlines. In 2025, these airlines transported close to 7 million passengers to the city.

Looking ahead, infrastructure projects are set to reinforce Puerto Vallarta’s status. The expansion of the Puerto Vallarta International Airport, including a new international terminal, promises more streamlined arrivals and departures. Meanwhile, the recently opened section of the Guadalajara–Puerto Vallarta highway reduces travel times to just three hours, making it even more convenient for both domestic and international visitors.

With its natural beauty, modern amenities, and a strong push from local tourism and business stakeholders, Puerto Vallarta’s appeal to the meetings and events industry shows no sign of waning—solidifying its place as a premier destination on the Mexican Pacific.
