The competition has become a notable platform for bartenders from across Mexico and beyond, promoting the professionalization of the craft and the artistry that goes into creating innovative cocktails. Mario Mendoza, president of the Vallarta Specialized Bartenders Association, emphasized the event’s commitment to elevating the mixology profession.

This year’s competition is notably fierce, featuring 32 bartenders hailing from 16 Mexican states, as well as international contenders from Los Angeles and Colombia. These skilled mixologists are set to compete by crafting captivating and original cocktails that reflect their creativity and mastery.

The Cocktail Duel’s journey began with a celebratory launch in Nuevo Nayarit on February 29th, followed by a series of elimination rounds taking place in Jalisco. The competition is gearing up for its climax, with the top four bartenders advancing to the grand finale in Oaxaca, where the ultimate champion will earn a prestigious European tour, courtesy of the ’50 Best Bars.’

The Puerto Vallarta semifinals, scheduled for April 16th, are expected to be a highlight of the competition, offering a vibrant mix of live music, sponsor samples, and the possibility of a live lucha libre performance. This event not only provides a platform for professional bartenders to showcase their skills but also offers a unique cultural experience for attendees, blending the worlds of mixology and traditional Mexican wrestling.

Both industry professionals and the general public are invited to witness the spectacle, which promises to showcase the innovative spirit and passion of the participating bartenders. The Cocktail Duel remains a significant event in the culinary calendar, underlining the growing appreciation for the art of cocktail making and the talent found within the mixology community.
