Puerto Vallarta started Thursday with mostly cloudy skies and a warm, humid morning. Current conditions were near 26°C (79°F), with the day forecast to reach about 32°C (90°F).
The main planning issue today is heat, not a major storm. Humidity will make the afternoon feel hotter than the air temperature, so outdoor work, errands, and beach time are better handled earlier in the day or closer to sunset.
Rain is possible, but the morning forecast does not point to an all-day washout. The better window for passing showers is afternoon into evening, with most forecast guidance keeping rainfall light or scattered. A brief shower could still bring slick pavement, short-lived ponding, and a risk of lightning, especially near the hills and river corridors.
Winds should stay light to moderate around the bay. The National Hurricane Center’s offshore forecast for the Mexican Pacific calls for light to gentle winds between Cabo Corrientes and Tehuantepec, with moderate seas in a mainly southerly swell. Surf guidance for the Puerto Vallarta rivermouth shows small southwest swell around 0.8 meters, or about 3 feet, which is not a broad marine hazard but can still create uneven conditions near river mouths and exposed beaches.
No Eastern Pacific tropical cyclone was active early Thursday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center. No verified citywide port closure or beach closure notice was found in the early check, but beach conditions are always local. Follow posted flags and lifeguard instructions before entering the water.
For today, plan on a hot, humid Vallarta day with some cloud cover, a chance of later showers, and routine rainy-season caution on roads after any downpour. Keep water with you, limit peak-afternoon sun, and give yourself extra time if rain develops during the evening commute.
