Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Classic 2017 Announced

The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, Punta Mita Resorts and the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau recently announced the celebration of the VII American Express Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Classic 2017 to be held from November 30 – December 3, 2017.

The details were discussed during a press conference Tuesday in Mexico City with the participation of Lorena Ochoa, considered the best Mexican golfer of all time with 27 LPGA titles and membership in the Golf Hall of Fame; she has also been named the event’s Ambassador.

Also present, James Hughes, General Manager for The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort; and Gonzalo Güelman Ros, Resort Manager for the Four Seasons Punta Mita. Sponsor representatives included Santiago Fernández, Managing Director, American Express México; Andrés Rossetto, Tourism Development Director for Punta Mita Resorts; Anko van der Werff, Director of Revenue for Aeroméxico; and Richard Zarkin, Public Relations Manager for the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau.

There were also representatives from 23 different national and international media present, specializing in sports and adventure, lifestyle and gastronomy.

The Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Classic has become a tradition in Punta Mita, representing everything a lover of luxury could wish for: a long weekend filled with great golf; a fantastic culinary offering created by the most talented chefs, mixologists and sommeliers; incredible parties under the sun and stars; and, of course, excellent company.

According to Carl Emberson, Director of Marketing and Operations for Punta Mita: “This is a high-caliber, very prestigious event that attracts the best in sports and culinary talent from around the world. We look forward to welcoming our esteemed residents and visitors from around the world to this very exciting event. Together with AMEX, we’ll be able to offer the best program ever.”

Golfing legends have confirmed their participation, among them, Lorena Ochoa and Craig Stadler. Well-known chefs include Ford Fry, Betty Vázquez, Richard Sandoval, Abraham Salum, Andrés Ormsby, Marco Valdivia, Joaquín Cardoso, Franck Steigerwald, Leslie Durso and Erik Guerrero, among others, all of whom will be working with local Punta Mita chefs such as Pato Pérsico, José Durón, Edgar Ortega, Nicolas Díaz, Manuel Peruyero, Philippe Piel, José Salas, Esther Sánchez, Héctor Leyva and Miguel Navarro.

Among this year’s novelties are tours of Punta Mita’s exclusive real estate offerings, as well as cooking stations with live demonstrations strategically placed around the two golf courses and the Kupuri Beach Club. They are also hosting an intimate dinner at the Casa Palmasola private residence, followed by a visit to The St. Regis’ Sea Breeze Beach Club.
